Child Neglect and Abandonment in United States 
It is weird that how one thing is considered shameful in one part of the world, whereas at the same time the other part boasts about it. That thing is family values. In most of the parts America and other countries, staying with your family after being an adult is considered as discreditable. While in countries like Italy and also many Asian countries it is a way of life.
This is one issue that is haunting the Americans to some extent. They are paying a huge price for this individual freedom and security. The main issue that needs to mention is Child Neglect. Many believe that the lack of deep rooted family values is the foremost reason for the increase in the number of children getting neglected and even abandoned day in and day out.
Statistics illustrate that more than half a million children are victims of neglecting, in the United States. Children are being neglected not because of poverty, but more so because of the lifestyle that is being adopted. Being busy with works, sending kids to day care or calling upon some babysitter has become a way of life for the Americans. In other parts of the world, there are cases of child neglect or abandonment mainly because of poverty. US boasts of being a super power and at the same time we see a Dani Lierow suffering from the utmost neglect that led her to being impaired of walking, eating and even looking at a person. She was lucky enough to get noticed and taken into foster care. There a still millions of American kids who are being neglected do not get noticed and die in same neglected situation or taken into emergency medical treatment.
Child Abandonment is also a major issue gripping America. Young girls getting pregnant and giving birth to children and later sending them to foster care or child home is a very regular scenario. Not all these kids who get adopted go on to become Steve Jobs. He was one such lucky child who was adopted by good people and got the proper upbringing. Many of the families who adopt kids fail to give a proper nurture to the child. There are many people who adopt because of taxation reasons.
UNICEF and many other child welfare organizations are working rigorously for imbibing the values and making people aware about child neglect caused in and around US. People are getting responsible and are coming with details about such instances. One day this will turn US’ dream of zero abused or neglected children into reality.
