Latin America Childcare – Creating hope all across America

Latin America ChildcareLACC is a non-profit organization, working towards educating poor kids in Latin America and the Caribbean. It is the brainchild of a Latin American Pastor Bueno and his wife. They were encouraged to do so, back in 1963, when they saw the plight of poor children living on the streets near their church in El Salvador. They were later joined by missionaries Doug and Myrna Peterson in 1978.

Their main aim was to establish churches and schools in the poverty ridden regions of Latin America and managing sponsors for them. They have established 300 schools providing education to a hundred thousand students at a given point of time. Until now they have educated over a million students through their schools. These children are not orphans or street children. They very much live with their parents or relatives.

Their main aim is to imbibe religion and goodness in the minds of these kids, so that they turn out to become responsible citizens. They have a program named ‘Sponsor a Child’ through which they ask people to fund the education of at least one child. Once you decide to become a sponsor to a child, you are expected to pay a fixed amount every month which is spent on the education, food and other care. You can willingly buy that child a gift on special occasions like birthdays or Christmas. They also expect you to write letters to the child to develop a bond between both of you. They believe that children are glad to know more about their sponsors. Your total spending per year is not more than $450. You can even claim tax benefits for these contributions.

Many of their students have grown up to become successful in leading a well to do life. Alejandro from Bolivia was orphaned at an age of 7 and then gained education form one of the LACC schools. He now works as a missionary in India.

LACC also has an Extreme Poverty Fund helping the children and their families coming out of necessitous and horrifying life crisis. They have transformed lives of many unfortunate kids. They have sowed the seeds of hopes in the poor and cold hearts - hopes of education, hopes of better future and hopes of living.
