Convention on rights of the Child – AustraliaAustralia was one of the first countries to join the Convention on Rights for Child just after coming into force on 2 September 1990. The Australian government ratified with the Convention in December 1990 and it became compulsory on Australia in January 1991. Australia ratified an optional protocol called Involvement of Children in Armed Conflict on September 2006 which was entered into force on February 12, 2002. Australia also ratified the protocols like Child Prostitution and Pornography and Save the Children on 8th January 2007.

Initiative taken by Australia for child right implementation

Australia had ratified the UN Convention on the rights of the Child (CROC) way back in 1990. This clearly specifies that the Australian government made this move to make sure that every single child in Australia will have every right conveyed by the Convention. The government is abide to regularly report to an independent panel of experts, to explain them about the progress that is made towards ensuring the children’s right.
